PH Halal Ecosystem: Clinching the Momentum thru Capacity Building

PTTC-GMEA is one with the DTI in its efforts to develop and promote Halal in the Philippines. On November 27-29, PH Halal Ecosystem was successfully staged with the goal of stirring the stakeholders of Philippine Halal industry towards a common objective of elevating the country as an industry key player.

Seminars on Halal Certification Requirements, Halal Tourism, Islamic Banking & Finance, and Business Opportunities in Halal were offered for free to 103 participants, providing them a 360-degree perspective of the untapped potential of the billion-dollar Halal market.

In addition to seminars offered for free, the three-day event also featured Halal Slaughtering Training delivered by Mr. Mohd Amri Abdullah of JAKIM, the agency responsible for Islamic affairs including halal certification in Malaysia. The event was attended by 31 participants and graced by Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines H.E. Norman Muhamad, MCCI President Edward Ling, and DTI TPG UsecAbdulgani Macatoman

Leaping the Gap: Philippines 4.0 Skills Forum

In support of DTI’s Inclusive, Innovation, Industrial Strategy (i3S), PTTC-GMEA, in partnership with Thames International Business School and SkillsFuture Singapore, identified six (6) initial priority tracks for upskilling: Manufacturing, Food Services, Design, Logistics, Tourism, and Retail. With the aim to assist the Philippines in coping with disruptions brought about by Industry 4.0, the Skills Forum hopes to bring the Philippines at par with Singapore and eventually develop its own Philippines Skills Framework and Skills-based training programs.

On November 19, in a consultative workshop prior to the Forum, 60 key representatives from 31 different private companies, industry associations, and government agencies gathered to identify top skills gap of each priority track.

200 participants benefited from the identified skills and competencies necessary for industry transformation as 20 resource persons who have major contributions in making Singapore the World’s Most Competitive Country led the forum and breakout sessions on November 20.

PHx Fashion Conference and Fashion Connect: A Reverse Trade Fair

The first ever PHx Fashion Conference is a collaboration between the PHx team, PTTC-GMEA, and Fashion Design Council of the Philippines. Held on November 11-14, the conference aimed to uplift and bring the Philippine fashion industry to a global scale.

Over 90 fashion designers, students, and entrepreneurs participated in creative and business talks led by some of the biggest names in Philippines and Japan fashion including Rajo Laurel, Amina Aranaz-Alunan, Tetta Matera, and CJ Cruz.

As part of the 4-day Conference, Fashion Connect: A Reverse Trade Fair also served as an avenue for 44 exhibitors from different regions to connect with fashion designers in addressing the gap in local fashion value chain. Hence, designer-supplier relationships were initiated and guidance on product marketing, designing, and quality control were given to exhibitors of locally made shoes, clothing, wearables, bags, and gift items. Sales from the fair totaled Php 648, 900.00.
